Nancy Withey
Queen of the Lobsters

For the third time Ray & Nancy Withey hosted our Lobsterfest which featured live lobsters flown in from Boston. YUM!

COMMUNITY NOTICES

I would like to express a huge thank you to Ray and Nancy Withey for all the work they did to make the Lobsterfest such a success. The lobsters were never bigger, the corn was never sweeter, the salad freshly tossed, the rolls straight from the oven and fresh strawberries for the cheese cake.  The only thing that surpassed the dinner was enjoying an array of after dinner cordials with friends and neighbors.  Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Joe and Ellen O'Coin

Coming Attractions” flyers

We have returned to the practice of putting Coming Attractions” flyers on the glass table in the lobby. Besides any Association events, we are happy to provide space on the table for any HHR resident organization events. Just clear them with Stu and we will provide you with a lucite holder for your flyer.

Special thanks

Special thanks to Sharon Aubuchon, Sharon Huston, Pat Kuznitz, and Nancy Withey who provided many of the photo’s that appear in this issue of the Putterings.

Many thanks

Many thanks to everyone that made the Trivia Night Fund Raiser the huge success it was. Over $7,500 was raised and the McCullen Family thanks you all, both those who donated items and money, and those who helped out before, during, and after the event.

Golfing News

There’s nothing more relaxing
than a fun round of golf.

The Pro-Shop Grill and Golf Course are now open from
8:00 AM to 6:00 PM - Tuesday - Sunday
Closed on Mondays.

Signs You're Too Old for the Senior Tour

  • When you take off your golf shoe, you notice a tag around your toe.
  • Your foursome tells you to be quiet but it's just your bones creaking
  • You need a cart just to get to your car
  • Every time you swing, the waistband on your pants chafes your nipples.
  • You strain your groin area just telling a joke.

A Few Basics About Golf

  • Golf can best be defined as an endless series of tragedies obscured by the occasional miracle.
  • There are two things you can learn by stopping your backswing at the top and checking the position of your hands: how many hands you have, and which one is wearing the glove.
  • The game of golf is 90% mental and 10% mental.
  • Since bad shots come in groups of three, a fourth bad shot is actually the beginning of the next group of three.
  • A ball you can see in the rough from 50 yards away is not yours.
  • Best Golf Quote: “I don’t have a handicap - it’s more like a permanent disability”

Many Thanks to our own Golf Committee who made this fun day possible.

Please remember that the golf course cart path is not to be used for walking during the hours the golf course is open. At this time of year that is Tuesday - Sunday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. This is a mandate from the HHR Association insurance carrier, and is for your own protection.

AND

Only licensed drivers 16 years and older may drive a golf cart. This also means kids shouldn’t be sitting on your lap steering the cart.
This is a rule and is for the safety of everyone.

June Highlights

LOBSTERFEST JUNE 14, 2008

Ray Withey addresses the diners as wife Nancy looks on. Over 80 lobsters were boiled and served with salad, corn on the cob, and cheese puff thingies. Delicious cheesecake was dessert, and a bar set up with apperatives

JUDY MARKHAM HITS HOLE-IN-ONE!

On June 6th during the Friday Night Resident Golf League, Judy made a perfect swing with her 3 wood to receive her first hole-in-one!  The skilled shot was on Hole # 9 which had a blue flag that night.  Congratulations Judy! See...the Friday Night Resident Golf League isn't just about the food!

LOBSTERFEST LEFTOVERS

Pat Fairhurst is either showing or terrorizing John Fairhurst with this lobster at the Lobsterfest.

JUNE'S GARDEN OF THE MONTH

Kay Lamont at 96 Avian Court has the honor of being selected as June’s Garden of the Month. Her yard is a showcase of colorful flowers and plants. Just walk by and see the spectacular blooms in the front yard. Or, the perfect spot to survey the garden is from the golf path. She not only has a variety of color from the blooming flowers, but also the texture and foliage is bright and bold. Kay’s garden is a work of art and pleasure to behold.
