MIKE COOK HAS 20 INCHES!

During the May 19th Fishing Derby expert angler Mike Cook caught the biggest fish, a large mouth bass measuring 20 inches long. Mike also caught the most fish, 11 bass in all.

PERRY PREPARES PANCAKES
PRECISELY & PERFECTLY

At the annual Mother’s Day Ladies Breakfast Perry Wood was one of our resident chefs that cooked breakfast and served nearly 60 ladies. Tables were attended to by 2 waiters, and we had 2 Maitre D’s greeting and escorting our guests to their seats upon arrival.

COMMUNITY NOTICES

Thank you, thank you to the May Hosts for Dinner for 8:

Voight/Brust, Behrens/Cairns, Lachalmelle, Wolfrum, Ehrle, Brooks/Musco, and Markham.

The Dinner Committee has decided to change this event to Dinner for 6 or 8 since some hosts feel they could accommodate 2 couples (or 4 singles) more easily than 6. Our next dinner will be August 3. If you sign up to host, please indicate how many guests you would like (excluding yourselves). PLEASE CONSIDER HOSTING IN AUGUST so we can continue this fun evening with friends and neighbors. Thanks.

With Clubhouse Assistant Ted Rhodes injured our pool furniture was not placed on the pool deck as planned. However, special thanks to Delores & Roger Behrens, Ron Miller, Al Bronstein, and Veta Cairns, who did the muscle work and moved the tables and chairs on to the patio area.

Our thanks to Larian Johnson, who hooked us up with his son Darin Johnson, who is the Visual Manager at Bass Pro Shops in St. Charles. Darin was kind enough to procure prizes from Bass Pro Shops for our Fishing Derby. Thanks to him and Bass Pro Shops, we had hats to give out to everyone who participated, as well as a rod and reel, a large tackle box, and 4 boxes of lures. Mike Cook won two categories, largest fish at 20 inches, and most fish at 11. Leal Stewart won a prize for the smallest fish, which was actually over 4 inches long.

May Highlights

"HOOFERS" ENJOY SENIOR OLYMPICS

Our very own Heritage Hoofers had another terrific experience at the Senior Olympics  " Tap Extravaganza". This is their 3rd year in the event which includes groups from all over the St. Louis area. There were 24 acts in the show. Our girls received a rousing applause and many compliments on the originality of their routine. If God's willing and the "creeks don't rise", they'll be back next year!

HERITAGE HAWKS WATER VOLLEYBALL TEAM - TRIUMPHANT AT SENIOR OLYMPICS!

For the first time Heritage of Hawk Ridge fielded a water volley ball team that competed in the 2008 Senior Olympics. They came in FIRST PLACE in their age category. Participants were

SOME BEAUTIES CAUGHT AT THE 2ND ANNUAL HERITAGE
OF HAWK RIDGE FISHIN
G DERBY

Left:  Larian Johnson shows off a 16 inch bass he caught during the fishing derby. Larian said “it’s the largest fish I’ve ever caught.” On the right is Leal Stewart, 92 years young. He caught this fat 14 inch catfish.

LADIES MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST MAY 10, 2008

24 HHR men cooked and served breakfast to 60 HHR ladies on Mother’s Day Weekend. The ladies enjoyed the pampering.

FIRST THEY RODE …

Left: Barbara Hunt, Shirley Kruse, Sharon Brooks, Amalia Molina, Veta Cairns, Judy Jacques, Steph Hempel, Sharon Huston, Ed DeAvilla, Jim Drey, Sal Musco, Tim McCullen, and Gary McCullough, rode the Katy Trail at the Dutzow area. We had so many bikers this time that we needed resident trucks to carry some of the bikes. Our thanks to Shirley Kruse and Tim McCullen for helping us transport bikers and bikers on this fun outing. Also thanks to the organizer of the bike trips, Veta Cairns.

THEN THEY ATE

After enjoying a leisurely ride along the Katy Trail on a beautiful Spring day, the bikers enjoyed lunch at the Dutzow Deli. Lunch out is always a wonderful feature of the HHR Bikers Club outings.

* * ODE TO OUR HHR BIKERS * *
By Veta Cairns

An awesome day – ‘Tis time to ride . . .
We all enjoy the countryside!
We’re on the Katy - - A perfect day . . .
Extreme spring beauty along the way!

Each biker shares his/her special expertise;
Participating offers each one release.
Our driver, Stu, keeps us safe & sound.
His eyes on the road to where we’re bound.

Gary McCullough & Dottye Beattie each navigate.
They make certain we’re never lost or late!
Bike loading supervision is oft’ left to our Ed!
Sometimes when he rides he’s way up ahead.

Sharon Houston shares with us her great photography;
She likes to include interesting topography.
Sometimes our group outgrows the HHR Bus . . . .
NO PROBLEM!! Our truckers step forward – NO FUSS!

Ann Allard has driven – Also our Jim Drey.
Steph & Bob are most willing – The Kruses say, YEA!!
Tim, our new rider, has a truck – shares it with us.
All of these supplement our HHR Bus!!

Our most sincere thanks –
To all of the above.
Such cooperation and caring –
And the biking we love!

Each trip has its highlights –
Some, perhaps we’ll NOT share.
We return refreshed and happy;
Always glad we rode there!!
