COMMUNITY NOTICES

SINGLE FRIENDS LUNCH

Tuesday, November 20th This month we’re going to Imogene’s Tea Room and Gift Shop in Chesterfield Valley. What could be better than lunch and holiday shopping? The bus will leave the Clubhouse at 11 am and a signup sheet will be posted. For more information call Pat at 561-1959.

HHR CO-OP UPDATE

By now you should have received your HHR Co-op booklet listing various vendors who have been recommended by our neighbors. If you have not received your booklet, copies are available at the Club House. The committee members would be interested in having feedback from you if you used a listed vendor and are not satisfied. We are interested in receiving additional service providers to add to our next edition of the Co-op List. There is no definite time table established for writing a new list, but the committee would like to have the information on hand. You may send them to Tony Zito.

Co-op Committee: Al Bronstein, Frank DeCarlo, Pat Goddard, Judy Koehr, & Tony Zito

There’s nothing more relaxing

Friday Night Resident’s Golf “Extravaganza”

On Friday evening, Oct 5, The Friday Night Golf Group held their season ending “Extravaganza” in the HHR Clubhouse. Fifty-nine residents enjoyed the party that included decorated tables, attendance prizes, gift bags, a catered buffet dinner and special awards. A treasurer’s report was given by Sharon Aubuchon, the group’s financial officer. Special recognition was given to Larry Knopfel, who did the pairings each week and handled all the details of the Friday Night League.

Ed and Shirley DeAvilla were recognized for their tireless effort in taking care of the set-up for the weekly potlucks after golf. Elaine Voight and Daren Brust organized the weekly 50/50 drawings that contributed greatly to our budget allowing the “Extravaganza” to be so much fun. Jon and Cyndie Herbik generously donated the white wine used for the evening.

Bob & Charles

The entertainment included a short trivia game and a skit performed by “Golfer” Bob Harrison and “Caddy” Charlie Ruhmann that had everyone laughing. Charlie, an avid golf ball collector (balls abandoned in and near the lake), made a presentation of about 10 balls he found with a distinctive red letter K to Larry Knopfel. As the evening came to a close, several residents joined in a fun game of Pass The Trash.

Jim Waugh, who had earlier in the evening been awarded an Oscar for “The Most Continuous Best Performances” while playing the card game, astounded us again with another great performance. Friday Night Resident’s Golf will begin again in April 2008. During the winter, the group is planning to gather occasionally for potluck and Pass The Trash games.

HHR Men’s Saturday Morning Golf League

Saturday, October 13, 2007 the HHR Men’s League played the final organized outing for this year. Golf was preceded with a buffet breakfast prepared by Michele and Scotty in the Hawkeye Grill. After golf the players went to the Card and Pool Room in the Clubhouse and enjoyed a buffet lunch. Each player received a gift bag that was prepared by Sharon Aubuchon and Carol Knopfel. Following lunch John Aubuchon, the league Treasurer was recognized for his work at collecting money and maintaining the record of players. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places were made along with raffle prizes, and cash prizes. Players who played the most times during the season were recognized and John Aubuchon who played 45 rounds played the most times. Saturday golf will continue until weather prevents it and the 2008 season will start in early April. Thanks to John Steineger, Paul Rivard and the Hawkeye Grill Staff (Michele, Scotty, and Anthony) for their support to the Men’s Saturday Morning Golf.

October Highlights

One of the great things about Heritage of Hawk Ridge is that if you have an idea for an activity that isn’t already scheduled you can usually find enough neighbors who would be willing to try it to get it on the schedule. Mah Jong is one of our newer activities, and already we have enough players for two tables. From left to right are: Delores Jones, Sally Wood, Jo Bronstein, Lynn Rogers, Ginny Marten, Vera Arroyo, Mary Murphy, and Norma Allen and a non resident guest.

OCTOBER GARDEN OF THE MONTH
(click on images to see larger version in new browser window)

Please take a few minutes and drive by the garden at 580 Owls Perch Dr., Garden of the Month for October. This is a relatively new garden but it is still flourishing into October. Joyce and Bill Emrick (seen below in front of their house) have nurtured their landscape in a relatively short period of time and you see the outstanding results. Congratulations to them and to all of you who make this community as beautiful as it is!
