Carol Richert actually makes it to midnight on New Year's Eve!

Carol Richert actually makes it
to midnight on New Years Eve

Janet Cook sent this great photo of Carol Richert for publication and the email time stamp read “1:22 am”. Carol amazed Janet and the rest of her friends by managing to stay up past midnight for the first time in years! Carol must be turning into a regular “Party Animal” or maybe it’s just that she was having so much fun at our annual New Years Eve celebration it was easy to stay up with the grown-ups.

COMMUNITY NOTICES

The Care and Concern Committee Is There for All of Us

The Heritage of Hawk Ridge Care and Concern Committee sends cards to residents who are ill or are mourning a loss. Committee members also visit and bring flowers to residents either in the hospital or in their home following a hospital stay or if they are homebound.
Karen Singleton and Sandra Heuay have made a number of items available for loan to anyone who needs them in the case of illness or immobility. A list of the items is posted on the community bulletin board. Items include wheelchairs (both electric and manual), outside ramp, walker, raised toilet seat, etc. Please feel free to call either Karen or Sandra to arrange to borrow any items needed.

The Care and Concern Committee brings food to anyone who is ill and unable to cook for themselves and provides rides to the doctor in cases of special need. Please call Shirley Barnes or Ann Zito if you or someone you know becomes ill or is suffering a loss. The information will be shared with the CCC and will be posted on the community bulletin board.

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month in the card room at 9:00 a.m. The Care and Concern Committee is funded by the proceeds from the Cup of Christmas Tea and other donations. Everyone is welcome to participate. Call Shirley Barnes if you would like to join or help any of the committee’s activities at any time. The committee has received so many kind words of praise in response to our efforts that we feel blessed many times over.

Beginning Guitar Class

Our experimental Beginning Guitar Class is going pretty well. Students Mary Ann Bingham, Dave Williams, and Ron Miller have learned the notes on all six strings. They have begun to work on chords, starting with C, Am, D, G, and A7. The students are also working on their first full song, Margaritaville by Jimmy Bufet.

Men’s Senior Slow Pitch Softball

Ellis Nelson has spent a lot of time organizing the first HHR Men’s Senior Slow Pitch Softball. He has met with officials of Lake St. Louis and arranged for us to use a nearby park diamond, and drafted some basic rules and guidelines. The game is specifically designed for older guys, with substitute runners, etc. The first organizational meeting will be on Saturday, February 10th at 9:00 AM. A trip to a nearby hitting cage will follow the meeting.
