KARAOKE NIGHT
DRAWS RECORD CROWD!

The always lovely Linda King, seen above, was one of dozens of folks that attended our August 19th Karaoke night, hosted by Stu & Mary Rose Cassell. Linda sang several Shania Twain hits and said, “Prior to this, the only singing I’ve ever done was in church.” However, she proved to be a natural, and has a really pretty voice. Her companion LeRoy also sang, giving his own special interpretation to several Hank Williams tunes.

The evening was non-stop singing by residents and guests alike. With over 2200 different hit standards, there were plenty of songs to choose from. One of our non-resident guests was a gent who called himself, “Michael G.” and he brought his own groupies - 4 ladies that he called his “4 pack.” The four ladies picked out songs for their idol to sing, everything from Elvis to Frank Sinatra, and Michael G. sang them all with gusto.

LAP AFGANS BY ANN KLASING
Article & Photo by Veta Cairns

Ann and brother, Wally, came to us from Holmes Beach, FL in June of this year. A teacher by profession, Ann has always made time to care for others.

These afghans have been donated to Meals-on-Wheels at the Green Lantern Senior Center in Wentzville, to be given as prizes etc. at their discretion, to the seniors attending this center.

For added enjoyment during Wally’s Cardinal games Ann whips out these beautiful afgans quickly. She would welcome any “neglected” yarn you might have to keep her fast fingers out of mischief and to continue this
wonderful sharing.

WATER AEROBICS

Water Aerobics has always been one of our most popular classes. Our instructor Lisa Freund is seen in the pool at the right, leading the ladies in their exercises while the music plays in the background. The ladies use “noodles” and water barbells, in addition to a variety of movements in our heated pool designed to increase mobility. The class is always well attended.

SCHMOLSEN GOLD SCORES BIG!

We had one of our biggest turn-outs for a Blue Jean Concert when Schmolsen Gold performed on August 26th. Over 75 residents and guests attended the 2 hour show, listening and dancing to great music. They received rave reviews and we’ll be sure to book them again. Left. Leslie Sanazaro performed on August 12, along with her bass player. Leslie sang and played both keyboard and guitar. She’s a jazz singer that performs many of her own songs, but she also did some beautiful renditions of popular standards such as “Summer Time”.
