Karen Singleton practices CPR during a class the Care & Concern Committee arranged with the St. Charles County EMS June 7th.

From Your Neighbors

To all my friends and neighbors at Heritage of Hawk Ridge.  Please accept my deepest gratitude for all your concern regarding my recent illness.  I appreciate so much all the cards, phone calls, and great food, but I appreciate even more all of your prayers.  I honestly think God heard so many prayers for me that he turned his head in my direction and wondered "who is this person"????, and thought, guess I best help her.  I do have cancer and I will be needing chemo in about 2 weeks or sooner, but after that's done, I'll be good to go!!  Thank you all again and God bless each and every one of you.  This is the best neighborhood we've ever lived in!

My love to you all, Andree

To all our HHR friends and Neighbors - Thank you so much for the cards, prayers, food, flowers and just general good wishes that we received from so many of you. We feel truly blessed to be a part of this community.

Sincerely, Judy & Ray Markham

The “Heritage Hoofers” send a big THANK YOU to all of our great friends who so enthusiastically supported our Sr. Olympics tap performances - both at the HHR clubhouse show and at the JCCA Sr. Olympics. You made a group of “Show-Girl Wanna-be’s” feel very special!

Community Notices

Our pool monitors report that residents are starting to get used to showing their passes when coming to the pool. Special thanks to everyone - we know this is a new procedure and we appreciate your cooperation. We only had one incident. On June 3rd a solitary mallard duck was caught swimming in the pool. When he failed to produce a pool pass he was asked to leave.

NEW CLUBHOUSE PHONE NUMBER: 636-561-7865 The old number 636-561-7895 will still work but Century-Tel has changed our original system and the old number no longer has voice mail. The new number does, so if you need to leave us a message please use that number.

A few quick reminders: Any exterior change, even storm doors and landscape bricks/blocks/pavers require Architectural Committee approval. The forms are in the business center and should be turned in along with a copy of your plot plan. If you have a problem with your garage opener, or if you need a new one - call Mark Birdsong at 314-524-2400.

Thank you to Shirley Barnes who served as the Hospitality Chairperson for several years and who spent countless hours meeting with new residents, giving them helpful information and a new resident packet. Shirley is stepping down from this position. Thank you Shirley.

Chess Teacher Wanted: A request was made that we put out a call for someone to teach beginning chess to residents that either have never played or who need a refresher course in the moves and basic strategy. If you have the time and knowledge, contact the office and we will see how much interest there is. If it is sufficient, we’ll schedule Chess Classes. If you have a special skill you’d enjoy sharing with your neighbors, let us know and we’ll put it on the schedule.

A few things to note: We have no lifeguard at the pool. It’s always advisable to swim with a buddy rather than alone. We have a couple of safety features you may not be aware of that could be of use in an emergency.

First, there is an emergency phone which can be used to dial 911 that is located in the back of the clubhouse in a red box.

We also have a pole with a hook at the end of it to use if someone is in trouble in the deep side of the pool. This is kept on two hooks on the fence nearest to the tennis courts behind the columns. The next time you are at the pool take a minute to locate the phone and the hook, so you know ahead of time where they are if needed.

Take advantage of our free library. We have hundreds of books you can borrow, take home and read. We have resumed purchasing DVD’s and you may borrow 2 at a time for 2 days at no charge.

Mark Gordon (left) performed at the May 27th Blue Jean Concert. We first discovered Mark when we visited Balducci Winery a few years back. He was performing there and we enjoyed him so we booked him. He’s been to HHR about 4 times over the past few years.

Tom Gil, Larry Knopfel Gary McCullough, Gary Turner, Tony Russom, and Don Roberts, all part of the world renown Dapper Dans, entertained at the Variety Show on June 10th , accompanied by Jeanne Brown. Jeanne played despite having one of her arms in a cast, (left) along with comic Danny O’Day, who did rapid fire one liners and sang funny songs (middle). Also featured were the Missouri Cameo Club (right). The Missouri Cameo Club is made up of former Ms. Senior Missouri title holders. They sang and danced.

2nd annual Butch Wax 50’s Dance.

Once again the Activities Committee did an incredible job of staging our 2nd annual Butch Wax 50’s Dance. Check out the car below with Ann & Tony Zito that Mike Cook made with the help of Leah Kinsey and members of the AC. It made a great prop for taking pictures.

Above Left: LeRoy Wall dances with his gal Linda King - Leroy collects vintage automobiles, and brought out several of them to park in front of the clubhouse the night of the Butch Wax Dance. Joe O’Coin, sporting a “50’s Do”, checks out one of the cars (Above Right). The great thing about Heritage of Hawk Ridge is how so many people get into the spirit of our fun events and are so willing to share their time and talents with their neighbors. It really is a very special community that offers something for everyone. Our folks certainly know how to have a good time.
