We can forgive Don Roberts if he got a bit of a swelled head on February 1st. That’s when he bowled a 201 - making him the first resident to break 200 this year. Congratulations to the Donster!

“We Can’t Take Him Anywhere!”

The guy in the funny hat below is our own Assistant Director John Pellerito. Now we know why some animals eat their young - actually, John, who has an excellent (nice way of saying twisted) sense of humor, was just mugging for the camera. Why the hat? Well, it was Trivia Night and Team #3 was in last place at the half-way mark. The organizers felt that they needed some “help” so they brought out funny hats for everyone on that team to wear. It worked! Team #3, began to get more questions right, and decided to keep the funny hats on for the rest of the evening. They ended up in 3rd place out of 13 teams.

One of the great things about Heritage of Hawk Ridge
is that we have so many talented individuals that are willing to share their knowledge and skill with their friends. Talented Pat Goddard (left) is helping Chris Stephenson (right) in the Caligraphy Class that Pat is offering this winter. Pat had two tables full of residents eager to learn how to letter in style. Other residents have taught ceramics, tap and line dancing, yodeling, cow-tilting, disinheriting pesky relatives, speaking while burping, and collecting Italian Hand Gestures.

A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL AT THE FIRST FRIDAY NIGHT LINE DANCE PARTY

Stephanie Hempel and her sister Janet Cook offered free line dance classes and set up monthly Line Dance Parties. As you can see by the expressions on everyone’s faces, the first dance was a huge success. This is just one of the many fun things happening at Heritage.

HHR Single Friends

HHR Single Friends will be having a Game Night, Friday, March 17th from 6:30 - 9:30 PM. Mexican Train, hand and foot, and
ping pong are favorites. You may sign up at the office.

FIRST TRIVIA NIGHT IS HUGE SUCCESS!

Sharon Aubuchon organized a really fun event with the help of Gary & Pat Turner, Gary McCullough, Roger & Diane Danielson, Sandra Heuay, Bob Bell, and Ann Zito. We had 13 teams of 8, and 10 rounds of 10 questions each. Prizes were given for the best decorated tables. 1st Place went to Sandy Aubuchon’s Table #2, 2nd Place went to Joe O’Coins Table #3, and 3rd Place went to Carole Waugh’s Table #6.During the intermission we were surprised with Pizza! Every table got one. There was a round where each table got a packet containing 10 bags of jelly beans and you had to identify the taste of each type, and a round where you were asked if a certain object would sink or float. After the answer sheets were collected Sharon provided the answers by dropping each of the objects in a small tank of water. The last round involved identifying either the artist or the title of 10 different songs. Pat Turner played excerpts from each record. Several teams came dressed up to coordinate with their table’s theme. The participants of the Academy Awards Table arrived dressed as old time movie stars and even rolled out a red carpet for their grand entrance. In addition to the regular Trivia questions there was a bonus round with questions about HHR. As if that wasn’t enough, each table had a chair with a special tag and the person sitting in that chair won $10. Over 100 people participated and all agreed this was one of the most fun and well organized events that we’ve had. We all hope we can do this again, and maybe make it an annual event.

Betty McGavran dressed as June Carter Cash for her Academy Awards table.
Norma and Tony Calcaterra decorated to coordinate with their Mardi Gras Table.
Gary McCullough did an excellent job of posting the scores as they were delivered to him through out the night using an excel spreadsheet on a computer connected to our large screen tv.
Bea Smugula is seen wearing Mardi Gras beads to go along with the table’s decorations, and one of the lucky hats that the Trivia organizers gave Team # 3 at the Intermission. They said this team was in last place (out of 13 teams) and the hats would help them do better in the second half. It did! Team #3 went from last place to 3rd place, and kept the hats on for the entire second half. They just wished they had worn them during the 1st half.
