THE CAMERA DOESN’T LIE
Yes it does! Jeanne and Jerry Brown didn’t really put on weight recently.
No, they were just being good sports and wearing special Tourist Costumes
at our 4th annual Luau. Not only did they have cameras, but Jerry even
applied sunscreen to his nose! Each year this event gets bigger and
better. More pictures of this fun night on back page.
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that the following things are offered to HHR
residents and are included in their monthly fee?
We have a DVD lending library of over 168 hit movies that
HHR residents can borrow. We have a library with hundreds of books HHR
folks can take home and read at their leisure. We have computers in our
Business Center connected to high speed DSL Internet service. We have
color printers, a laser printer, copiers, and fax machine. We have a 61
inch projection TV with tons of sports channels. Best of all, not included
in the fee are the great residents!
NEVER TOO EARLY TO START!
Since we’re about to close the pool, it must be time to begin planning the
Holiday Progressive Dinner. Be sure to save Sunday, December 18th for the
opportunity to celebrate with all your neighbors.
Event co-chairs this year are Jane and Ron Ehrle, 561-1971.
Please call if you would like to host an appetizer or dessert party.
Sign-up sheet for dinner will appear soon in the clubhouse lobby. Thanks
to Pat Turner, Sandy Cristea, and Shirley Kruse for volunteering to help.
ORNAMENTS
Many of our residents enjoy contributing a special ornament
to our banquet room tree. The ornament may be homemade or store bought. It
should include your name, address (if room) and the date you moved in.
Our tree decorating pot luck dinner will be held on November
27th, Sunday evening.. QuestionS? Call Carol Richert 561-6854
COMMUNITY NOTICES
To all our neighbors and friends.
Thank you for your prayers, cards, calls, and food. Your kindness is
greatly appreciated. A special thanks to Nancy & Ray for everything.
Mary & Dave Williams
I have always heard that God works in mysterious ways,
and I found out how true that statement is when I moved to Hawk Ridge.
I would like to take time to thank all my neighbors for the food,
thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time. All of you have a
special place in my heart.

HOLE IN ONE!
On Saturday September 17th during play with the Men’s League Gayle Cattau
sunk a hole in one on #6. What made this even more spectacular is that
this is our longest hole and he had to clear the lake on his way to the
hole. Congratulations Gayle!

Please
remember that the golf course cart path is not to be used for
walking during the hours the golf course is open. At this time of
year that is Tuesday - Sunday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. This is a
mandate from the HHR Association insurance carrier, and is for your
own protection. |

How
Many F’s?
If you said there were 3 F’s you are wrong. There are 6 of
them! No joke. For some unknown reason our brains cannot process the word
“of”. Now that you know that, go back and count the F’s. Isn’t that a
mind-blower? Most people will see only 3 F’s. If you saw 6 then you must
be a genius.

Swing Your Partner!

Don Roberts is seen escorting his
mother Helen off of the dance floor after she got into a fist fight with one
of the other square dancers. Above Right: Ron & Jane Ehrle get ready to
exchange a secret behind - the - back handshake that Ron learned while
serving with the Marines. Okay, we’re just kidding. Both couples are
promenading while Dottie and Dave Miller look on. The class is always filled
with laughter and it’s a wonderful way to get some exercise. |
 |
Larry Shipman calls the Square
Dance. He’s a great instructor and makes it really easy to learn the
different steps. In addition to calling he often sings/calls. At this
particular class Jane & Ron Ehrle, Dave & Dottie Miller, Judy Jacques, Helen
Roberts, Don Roberts, Pat Roberts, Jim & Karen Singleton, Eddie Weber, and
Stu Cassell attended. We’ll probably scheduled a Square Dance sometime in
the future to test our new skills. |

Luau!
|
 |
The Activities Committee pose at
the Luau in front of the 3 cakes we served for dessert. From left to right
are: Lovely Sandy Aubuchon, vivacious Ellen O’Coin, effervescent Jan Bell,
splendiferous Carol Richert, glamorous Vicki Wolz (who’s often mistaken for
Cindy Crawford), and of course the bodacious Janet Cook. Great job, ladies! |
 |
IT’S ELECTRIC!
Both the palms in the background and the dance were “electric” at the Luau.
Left: Shirley Barnes leads the pack in dancing the Electric Slide. The band
Third Degree provided the music. This year the Activities Committee put the
palms and other festive lights all around the pool deck. They also painted
cloth murals of giant flowers that waved in the breeze. The swimming pool
was filled with balloons and pink flamingos. Tables were placed all around
the pool, and as tradition dictates, we had a roast pig, barbecued chicken
for dinner.

Jane Ehrle gets ready to cut the
cakes at the Luau. Yum! |
 |
John and Pat Fairhurst bid all the
Luau guests “aloha” as they handed out flower leis to everyone. Note the
flamingos grazing on the right.
