Thank You

My family would like to thank everyone at Heritage of Hawk Ridge for their cards and tributes in memory of my mother. I don’t take friendship for granted and your thoughtfulness in this difficult time lifted my spirits. My father taught me the importance of family above all else, and it’s he who I model myself after as a father and husband; but my mother taught me the joy of laughter, and even at eighty-five still possessed the ability to get silly and transcend her years and her pain with humor. Again, thank you all.

Stu, Mary Rose, and Alex Cassell

Thank you to my many friends from Hawk Ridge for the phone calls, cards, food, flowers, and prayers at the time of my recent surgery. My mobility will be somewhat limited until mid-October and I will continue to enjoy hearing from you.
Sincerely, Delores I. Behrens

Many thanks to the eighteen volunteers that have donated over five hundred bracelets to the Circle of Hope cancer research fund! We will be making bracelets every Monday at 6:30 pm. This will be a continuous charity fund raising event. All are welcome to join us! I am so grateful to have neighbors who are such a blessing.
Thank you! Lynn Rogers

They practiced for months - our own Little Mermaids. Lead by Pat Turner, they are our crack synchronized swimming team who performed to a sell-out audience on Tuesday August 23rd. They wouldn’t let a few clouds deter them as they performed gracefully in the water like so many beautiful swans. The Heritage of Hawk Ridge Little Mermaids are: Janet Cook, Judy Jacques, Jeanette Hage, Shirley DeAvilla, Shirley Kruse, Helen Repke, Cynthia Rubique, Pat Turner, Carol Richert, and Steph Hempel. After the performance the ladies served their guests refreshments in the clubhouse card room.

“IT RAINED MEN”
As their finale, the Little Mermaids performed to the hit song, “It’s Raining Men” - and it did! At the end of the song Ed DeAvilla, Mike Cook, and Gary Turner all jumped into the pool for a hilarious finish to a wonderful Evening’s entertainment. Can’t wait until next year to see what they do next!
Carol Richert

Special thanks to Janet Cattau who took all of the Little Mermaids photos used in this newsletter.

The Dapper Dans performed at the Little Mermaids Show. Tony Russom, Gary Turner, Tom Gill, and Larry Knopfel.

Judy Jacques stands behind a “mermaid cake” made just for the Little Mermaids Show. I think she modeled for it.

The Now & Then Band with Rita Fuhrmann perform at our summer dance on August 20th, hosted by the lovely John Pellerito.

Joe O’Coin is seen schmoozing with Mary Leach, Cynthia Rubique, and Judy Jacques at the Summer Dance where the fabulous band Now & Then played (not to be mistaken for that hit group of the 40’s called Before & After, or that other group who started out performing as Hither and Yon, and then later changed their name to Ice Cream and the Five Scoops). It’s amazing the nonsense that comes out of the director’s mind when he has to fill an inch or two (I could stop there and turn this into a dirty joke but I won’t) of space in the newsletter. We thank you for your patience.

Ellen O’Coin is seen seated right between the “table cleavage” next to the newly dance-worthy Jerry Sexauer and the always vivacious Linda Halbrook, (of the Hawks Landing Halbrooks). This photo was taken by John Pellerito at the summer dance during one of his lucid moments. Actually, John did a great job flying solo at this event. John always does a great job and that’s why we keep him around despite all of the rumors and his frequent black-outs.
