Elaine Voight joined us for our bus trip to the St. Louis
Renaissance Fair in Wentzville on May 28th. It was a perfect day to stroll
through the woods and visit all of the various crafts and food booths,
watch a host of outdoor shows, all with a medieval theme. They had knights
on horse back jousting, and a royal procession with the King and Queen.
This was a fun trip we’ll be sure to do annually.

Come join the Bocce fun on Saturday mornings at 9:00 am.
Everyone is welcome. Above Ron Milewski, Al Schwartz, Bob
Ederle, Tony Russom, Ron Ehrle, and Gary McCullough get ready to play.
Below Ron Milewski is seen expertly tossing the bocce ball as his friends
cheer him on or razz him, whichever the case may be.

MEET YOUR HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

Shirley Barnes will be greeting the new residents and serving
as hospitality chairman.
Dee Snyder is our Sunshine Committee. She sends get-well
greetings to our fellow residents hospitalized or sick.
Pat Fairhurst collects donations for the Tree Memorial
Garden, orders etched stones and oversees the planting of
the trees.
Dee (back row) Shirley & Pat
The residents of Heritage of Hawk Ridge established a Memorial Tree Garden
in 2003 when we lost our first resident. Since that time we now have four
trees. The common ground area across the lake from the guard shack and in
back of the Clubhouse was chosen because it was a large, highly visible
area. There was a walking path down the middle, so the stones placed by
each tree could be easily seen. The plan is to line the path on each side
with Cleveland Pear trees. Future tree sites may be expanded to other
common ground areas as needed.
If you are aware of anyone that is sick, hospitalized, call Dee Snyder at
561-5989. If someone should pass on, please call Pat Fairhurst at
561-2027. If you are new in Heritage of Hawk Ridge and have questions in
general, call Shirley Barnes at 561-4195.

3rd Degree with guest guitarist Ben Cassell performed
at the Summer Dance on June 4th. |
 |
Judy Koehr filled her dance card, and played “Let’s Make A Deal” with
Stu Cassell and won $60 in cash. Congrats Judy! |
 |
The Dapper Dans, Larry Knopfel, Tom Gill, Gary McCullough, Gary
Turner, Tony Russom & Don Roberts performed at the Summer Dance. They
were excellent and will be doing a Christmas Show. |

The King, Queen, and their Court stroll through the park during the
Renaissance Fair. A group from HHR attended and it was really fun. We
plan on making this an annual bus trip. (cool looking dog). |
 |
Jerry and Jeanne Brown, along with Roger Richert were among the Heritage
of Hawk Ridge entourage that enjoyed the Renaissance Fair. They are seen
seated waiting to see one of the many free shows that were performed all
over Rotary Park during the fair. |
 |
A picture of the entertainment they saw - belly dancers. The show lasted
about 15 minutes and concluded with a young lady belly dancing while she
balanced a stick that had the ends lit and on fire. The dancers urged the
audience to chant “FIRE, FIRE.” |

On June 18th we had a “Las Vegas Night” which
featured singer/impressionist Dean Christopher. Dean was here last year and
everyone raved about him so we brought him back. Dean does great funny
impressions of Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis, Tom
Jones, and Elvis Presley. The show was a hit!

Gary Turner and Sharon Kovac make their way
through the buffet during Vegas Night. |

Dee and Charles Snyder enjoyed the evening as
well. This sentence is here because I ran out of things to say. |
 |
Dave Williams is seated next to Joe O’Coin
during our Las Vegas Night. Orlando Gardens catered the dinner which
consisted of Top Round of Beef au jus, Chicken Spedini, Fettucine Alfredo,
Bacon Cheddar Mashers, Green Beans Amandine, Italian Garden Salad, and
Dinner Rolls and Butter. For dessert we had cakes from the Falcon Diner,
Schnucks, and Sam’s, and French Silk and Coconut creme pies from Dierbergs.
Almost 100 people were in attendance and they all smelled great.
