1ST HHR MEN’S DAY OUT
IS STAR STUDDED!

When Eddie Weber, Gary McDougal, Tony Russett, Charles Gorilla, Jerry Black, and Heck Heckenwhopper went to lunch and a movie for the first Men’s Day Out on March 15th at 2:00 am, little did they realize that they would run into none other than Nicky and Paris Sheraton at O’Chucky’s at Chesterfield Uncommons. The two sisters were in town for a photo shoot and Paris got hungry and the girls decided to grab a bite. The men charmed them and the ladies were so tickled they agreed to pose for a picture. We had to remind Jerry that he was married because he wanted to go back to Hollywood with the girls, and they were only too happy to oblige him if we had let him go. "Danger Men Cooking"

Our call for additional Block Captains to help with the distribution of the monthly newsletters and special notices was answered. Veta Cairns, Larry and Carol Knopfel, and Linda White have joined Shirley Barnes, Stephanie Hempel, Janet Cook, Huguette Duff, Karen Singleton, and Dave Williams. We want to give all of them a special thank you for their help. Like the postman they deliver regardless of rain, heat, snow, or potato famine.

Our sincere condolences and prayers
To the family of
Bob Heuay

LAKE ST. LOUIS WARNING!

Bob Finley, one of our HHR residents found out the hard way that when the City of Lake St. Louis says “fines doubled in residential areas” near their 25 mph sign a block north of Hawk Ridge Circle, that they mean it. He wanted to pass on this warning that you need to remember that stretch of Lake St. Louis Blvd. where the speed drops from 35 mph to 25 mph. It cost him over $100 and he’s sure he’ll remember to slow down from now on.

 OFFICE HOURS

“Whenever we’re sober”

Thank You

Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
Or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you sent a floral piece,
If so we saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words,
As any friend could say;
Perhaps you were not there at all,
Just thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console our hearts,
We thank you so much whatever the part.

From Stu’s Nest or somewhere near it

Resident talent abounds! At our St. Patrick’s Dinner Party our own Heritage Hoopers performed on roller blades, and Stephenie Hempelhumper surprised everyone by doing a triple lutz at the end of the first dance number. Jeanne Brown accompanied the ladies on the kazoo and of course was brilliant as always. I wore a wore a green sparkle tie with matching cinnamon bun and a large green hat and throughout the evening I yelled, “Catch me lucky charms!” I had no takers, not even my wife. I want to thank everyone who brought chicken soup to the clubhouse when they heard I was sick following our cruise to Poland. I think I caught Dutch elm disease on my last day on board the ship, because my leaves started to fall prematurely (common among men my age). Those of you that were here last year have probably already figured out that I did another April Fool’s issue of our Hawk Ridge Putterings. I am also repeating the contest. The person who finds the most intentional mistakes will win a prize. List the errors by the page and turn your entry in by April 15th.

Singer Georgy Stone accompanied by Mr. Dill Pickle wowed the crowds again at the Feb. 26th B.J. Concert.

Stephanie Hempel and her sister Janet Chef have been holding tap dancing classes in the basement of the clubhouse for their fellow residents. The ladies have had a blast tapping their little hearts out, and decided that they would give their first public performance at our St. Philberts Dinner Party. From left to right are: The lovely Fay Roberts, Helen Repke, Judy Jacques, Jeanette Hage, Jeanne Brown, Stephanie Hempel, Barb Deater, Laverne Meyer, Shirley Kruse, and Janet Cook. . The ladies did some wonderful dancing and looked really cute in their costumes and afterwards mud-wrestled just for fun.

The Von Trapp Family singers performed at our annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

There’s Eddie Webber and Joe O’Coin helping themselves to some tasty knishes at our St. Pat’s dinner party. Joe O’Coin of course grew up in an Irish home, which was amazing considering his family is Chinese. Next to Joe is handsome John Fairhurst, heir to the Fairhurst Belly Lint Remover fortune. The food was delicious!

March 23, 2005 was a historic day at the 3 year old Heritage of Hawk Ridge Clubhouse. For the first time since we opened we had 3 simultaneous activities going on at once. The Ladies Golf Board was meeting in the Arts & Crafts Room, there was a Pinochle game in the Card Room, and we had 2 games of Armenian Train going on in the Biosphere. It’s nice to see the Clubhouse getting more use.

Chris Stephenson, Vicki Wolz, Betty Asher, Paul Brauner, Ellen O’Coin, Linda White, Judy Koehr, and Jan Bell were our chefs for the St. Patrick’s Dinner Party. They made beet borscht and cabbage & carrots with candied tuna in a yummy peanut butter-olive oil sauce. Everything was delicious!

Sandy Aubuchon put together this wonderful 50’s display to publicize the Butch Wax Oldies Dance on May 21st. Come see the really cool looking platform bra that Ellen O’Coin once wore, as well as Joe’s letter sweater and other memorabilia in the lobby.
