LINDA HALBROOK
GETS A "BUTT RUB" AT THE BLUE JEAN CONCERT
The
band Noteworthy performed at the clubhouse on Saturday, April 10th and
distributed a story that lead singer Rita Fuhrman read that had fill in
the blanks. You had to identify the songs they played and Linda Halbrook
had one of the high scores and won a can of “Butt Rub” peanuts. Pat
Goddard & Bob Heuay also won Butt Rub products.
THANK YOU!
Special thanks to
Janet Cattau who provided the piano accompaniment for the chorus at
the St. Patrick’s Dance.
QUICK REMINDER
Exterior changes and additions must be approved in writing,
including Satellite Dishes. Please note: The proper placement of the
Satellite Dish is on the roof in the back of the house where it’s not
visible from the street. If you need an Architectural Control Committee
(ARC) Application or have any questions ask Stu or John.
THE
BEAUTIFUL HAT SOCIETY
There is a new forming “Hat Society” for
women. It’s about women of today mentoring women of tomorrow. If anyone is
interested in attending this new adventure and would like to car pool on
Monday, May 24th at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m., please give Shirley Barnes a call at
561-4195. A pink leaflet about The Beautiful Hat Society is included in
the attachments with this news letter.

From Stu's
Desk or Somewhere Near It
This month marks the start of the 3rd year since the Clubhouse opened. It
seems fitting that during our anniversary month we have more things going
on then you can “shake a stick at.” (why you would be trying to shake a
stick at anything is beyond me - my grandmother had a whole assortment of
weird sayings, many having to do with lumber, like “better than a sharp
stick in the eye”.)
This month we’re having a Lobster Dinner, the Tim Ostermeyer Blue Jean
Concert, the 3rd annual Mother’s Day Ice Cream Social, our 2nd annual Art
Show, Casino Night, and the following out of Clubhouse activities; a bus
trip to see City Players doing “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”
(possibly inspired by the hit play “I Love You, Now Die!”), and the 3rd
annual Memorial Day Golf Scramble. This month also signals the start of
our Water Aerobics classes, and we have a record 20 residents signed up
for it! A reminder, no skinny dipping before 7:00 pm.
We have the start up of a few other seasonal activities. The lovely and
talented Pat Goddard has organized several tennis leagues, and the lovely
and talented Ron Milewski is getting water volleyball off the ground (or I
should say, in the water). Our DVD library is growing and many residents
are enjoying the opportunity to borrow recent hit movies. We are closing
in on the first hundred homes sold at HHR, with over 130 residents living
here at the time of this publication and many more on the way. We now have
enough people to do just about anything suggested, or close to it. Don
Roberts wanted some hearts players and within two weeks of posting a
notice and sign up sheet at the clubhouse almost a dozen people indicated
they’d enjoy a weekly hearts session. 23 ladies signed up for the bus trip
to Josephine’s.
What else is new? There was interest expressed in purchasing a basketball
system and now we have one, with our first “challenge match” on the books.
My Assistant John Pellerito issued a challenge to Mike Cook and Gayle
Cattau for a game of 2 on 2 with himself and me. I love you John - You’re
Fired! I don’t know when this match is going to take place, and quite
frankly, I had my athletic supporter bronzed years ago, but I’m willing to
give it a try. Lots of fun stuff, and John and I are really glad to be
part of it.
Good luck, your pal
Stu.

APRIL FOOL’S
DAY NEWSLETTER CONTEST RESULTS
NANCY WITHEY & KAREN SINGLETON TIE!There
were 42 intentional mistakes planted in the April Fool’s Issue of the Hawk
Ridge Putterings, plus 2 bonus items, making a total possible score of 44.
Both Nancy & Karen correctly identified 36 mistakes.
Each of the ladies have won $25 (see Stu at the office to collect).
We only counted right answers but didn’t subtract anything for wrong
answers. The following residents who scored 30 or higher receive
“Honorable Mentions” - Huguette Duff, Steph Hempel, Judy & Vince Koehr,
Gary McCullough, Annie Pick, Ray & Judy Markham, and Jeanne Brown. The
rest of the entries were in the mid to high 20’s. Thanks to every one who
participated.
There were a few things in the newsletter that were not planted, and
were not counted as April Fool’s mistakes.
- We mentioned in a special bulletin that because of the Golden
Games we’d be open on Tuesday April 27th, and the office would be
closed on Wednesday April 28th.
- At the time of publication the HHR Glee Club was scheduled to meet
for a practice at 7:00 pm. A special 6:30 pm meeting time was arranged
later.
- I often manipulate pictures to fit the area available, and I
intentionally stretched Georgy Rock’s photo to fit but it wasn’t
intended to be an April Fool’s mistake.
- The misplaced hyphen in Andre Wayman’s telephone number was due to
a glitch in the software program and not put there on purpose.
- At the St. Patrick’s Dance Ray Markham was walking across the
dance floor after the Irish dancers performed and he suddenly did an
imitation of one of their dances, that is why I said he did an “Irish
Reel” and that was not intended as a planted mistake. In some cases
when an entire paragraph was fabricated, such as the story about Stu
quitting to join the circus, that whole thing was counted as 1
mistake.
