"NOT SO NEWLYWEDS"

Joe & Ellen O’Coin, Garth & Andree Wayman, Pat & Gary Turner, and Judy & Vince Koehr participated in the “Not So Newlywed” game that we played at the Valentine’s Dance.

The couples sat down as the theme song to the Newlywed Game played and were told that the wives were going to be asked 4 questions each while the husbands were kept in a sound proof room. Then the husbands were brought back in and asked 4 questions to see how well the couples knew each other. The first question brought some interesting answers: “How will your husband complete this sentence?”

“When my wife wakes up in the morning, she’s likely to find my _______ on her _____.”

I wish I could print the funniest answers, but we have to keep our PG rating. Needless to say the answers were often hilarious, and got even funnier when Stu switched the last two questions when the husbands returned.

One of the questions he asked the wives was: “What does your husband usually do after dinner?” Then when the husbands came back in when it was time to ask that question instead he asked them: “What did your wife say you do to indicate you’re in the mood for love?” Two of the answers from the original question were: “He goes to sleep”, and “He watches the game.” Andree and Garth Wayman had the most points and were declared the winners, but since Stu messed with the questions, all of the couples were declared winners and all won “a prize package picked out especially for you.”

All four couples won DVD players, and gift certificates for dinner at the Macaroni Grill. Kudo’s to all four couples for being such good sports and providing the audience with many hilarious answers.

From Stu's Desk or Somewhere Near It

This month I put out sign-up sheets for 2 new resident committees: Resident Activities & Resident Travel. We have over 120 residents now, and so many people have come up with so many great ideas for both activities in the area, and vacations that I decided it was time to tap into those resources. Very shortly we’ll be scheduling organizational meetings for both new committees. After that, they’ll set up a regular meeting time, and begin to brainstorm. I welcome any ideas for the activities calendar, and basically anything that there’s interest in doing, we can schedule. The Resident Activities Committee will come up with fun ideas for future activities and events to add to the program, and the Resident Travel Committee will come up with suggested trips that groups of residents can go on together.

Block Captains Needed!

First, we’d like to thank Marilyn Gentemann, who served as one of the block captains of Hawks Landing Drive for nearly 2 years. She is stepping down now and we need someone to take over the route that runs from 2098 to 2116. Currently, there are 9 homes in this route. The Block Captains are responsible for distributing the monthly newsletters as well as special bulletins. They also act as “point” people to contact in an emergency or to find out information in the absence of Stu and John.

If you feel you would like to serve your community and help us as a Block Captain, please contact Stu or John. This is strictly a voluntary position that you may relinquish at any time. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors. Some of our block captains have served 1 year terms, others longer.

February Photo Highlights

Annie Pick attended the Happy Hour at the Clubhouse on Friday, Feb. 20th, and she looks happy. Leah Kinsey, our Pro-Shop Manager and Grill Lady Extraordinaire sold beer, wine, and mixed drinks. The residents also enjoyed free sub sandwiches, cookies, and candy while they visited with their neighbors. The Happy Hour ran from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, but several of the attendees were having such a good time they decided to extend the fun, and played poker until nearly 9:30 pm.

Sandy Aubuchon, Janet Bell, Judy Koehr, and Carol Richert enjoy chatting together during the Feb. 20th Happy Hour. In the past we have had Pot Luck Happy Hours where everyone brought either an appetizer or dessert. The great thing about living at Heritage of Hawk Ridge is that there are so many talented fun people. We have some wonderful gourmet cooks, and some extremely creative and artistic individuals who add so much to whatever activity we plan.
