At the Luau Nancy Withey went the entire length of the song during the hula hoop contest along with returning champ Shirley Barnes. Gayle Cattau was our 3rd winner in the contest.

Aloha from Heritage

Seen here, Gayle and Janet Cattau were among the 60+ residents who attended the September 6th Luau which featured a pig roast and hula dancers.

Cooler Weather Brings Back  the Walking Club

Now that it’s getting cooler enjoy a fall weather walk outdoors. The Walking Club meets every Monday at 9:00 am at the clubhouse. You can choose between the golf course cart path which is 1.6 miles, or the walking trail and Hawks Landing Dr. which is about 1 mile.
Enjoy the fall colors.

A Few Guidelines for Resident Organized Activities

As the recreation director I am happy to help publicize any resident organized activity. I can put a notice in the monthly newsletter, I can make you a sign up sheet and place it with our other signup clipboards in the lobby, or if you provide me with the flyers I will include them for distribution with other HHR bulletins or special notices. In addition, you may post a notice of the activity on one of the clubhouse bulletin boards and on the glass table in the lobby with my prior approval. As long as the event doesn’t conflict with something I have already scheduled and it is an event where all residents are invited to participate, you may use the clubhouse or pool to stage the event. Any events planned for the Pro-Shop will need the approval of Leah Kinsey, Pro-Shop manager.

I have a fairly heavy work load so I will be unable to produce the flyer(s) for you, but we have many talented residents who have made flyers in the past to publicize different things. I have helped with a few odds and ends in the past, but basically if it’s not an event that I am organizing and attending, then any expenses related to the event need to be collected from the residents participating. This includes food, decorations, paper products, and beverages. We can loan out the vinyl tablecloths, and in some special instances where the participation is large enough to justify it, we will assume responsibility for laundering the tablecloths, providing they are replaced with clean ones at the conclusion of the event.

Obviously, clean up is expected for these events, and the residents who have held events in the past are to be commended on their excellent cleanup afterwards. I cannot collect monies for these events, nor can I make purchases for them. Please be advised that when a group of residents organize an event, they determine if the event is open to guests of residents, the public, or just our current residents and/or future residents. Please don’t assume you can invite guests without checking with the organizers of any event because they aren’t always open to non-residents. The recreation department (me) schedules 1 public clubhouse event a month, and 1 golf scramble per month (until November). In addition, there are special events like the Art Show or Flu Shots that are also open to the public.

Hole in One!

On September 4th Heritage of Hawk Ridge resident Steve Aubuchon, of 327 Seahawk Dr. hit a hole in one on #3. This was the 1st hole in one for Steve. Seen here to the right is Steve with Jack Nicholas and Arnold Palmer in the background, who were in Lake St. Louis for a charity tournament and stopped by to congratulate Steve. The three duffers celebrated Steve’s great shot at the Pro-Shop Grill with a tossed Caesar grilled chicken salad and some unsweetened raspberry sun tea. Steve is planning on having the lucky ball bronzed as well as his clubs, bag, and caddy.

September 21st Golf Scramble Results:

1st Place: Garth & Chris Wayman 2nd Place: Lowell Barnes & Joe Wiz
3rd Place: Paul Stedman & Mike Vanhech

This and That!

Special thank you’s to the Decorating Committee and everyone that helped make the September 6th Luau
such a fantastic success.

All of your hard work, both in advance preparation and clean up is greatly appreciated…Because so many people BYOB, beer and wine sales at parties hasn’t been enough to justify Leah being here 3-4 hours, so until further notice, we will suspend the cash bar and for now it’s strictly BYOB.

Please note when we schedule something on the calendar like “darts” or “ping pong” or “pool” we are doing so in the hopes that people that want to play these things will come up and have someone to play with - Bocce Ball began the same way.

I have been asked by Tom Desimpel to publicize that the ARC Fees for storm doors and landscaping has been waived. You do need to submit an ARC form with sketches of your plans for approval by the ARC committee.

Suggestion: If you’re going out of town, leave a key with a neighbor in case of an emergency, or at the very least, leave the office a phone number where you can be reached while you’re away. Let someone know when you’re leaving and when you’re coming back so we know you’re okay if we don’t see you for a few days.

Both the City of Lake St. Louis and Wentzville require “Hold Harmless” agreements to participate in their recreational programs.
