Don’t anybody move! I have a spoon,
and I know how to use it!”

Gayle Cattau seen above expertly wielding a spoon and posed to strike. At our Winter Dance January 11th we did a “Spoon Dance” for the first time. It’s kind of like musical chairs. Everyone got up on the dance floor and three people were given a spoon. They were instructed to use it to “cut in” on anyone they wanted to, and that person then was given the spoon and had to cut in on someone else. The music would stop periodically, and anyone caught with a spoon in their hand had to sit down. It got pretty funny at one point when there were several female/female couples dancing. The last 6 people on the dance floor were declared the winners and they each won a prize. There were plenty of laughs and we’ll probably do this again at our next dance.

Bridge Club News

We now have two tables for daytime bridge, as soon as we find some chairs we can have a game!
No, actually, we have the chairs, and we have people to occupy them. We will be meeting every other Thursday at 12:30 pm, but the dates will change as necessary, and of course the names to protect the guilty. If you are interested in playing bridge, be sure to call either Andree Wayman at 625-2225 or Jeanette Hage at 625-0655. We are always looking for regulars to complete another table, and subs; men and women of all genders are welcome.

On Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, the first table hosted a luncheon for the new second table. Crab stuffed avocado, cheese rolls, three types of wine, and a lovely chocolate cake were served. (It’s a good thing Stu was off on that day or he would have eaten all the food!). Winners for the day were, High: Pat Turner with a score of 4070 points. Second: Andree Wayman with a score of 3950 points and Low: Stephanie Hempel with a score of 1180 points but we still love her.

January 14th Evening Scores: Huguette Duff, 5380, Carole Waugh, 4620, Andree Wayman, 430. Omar Sharrif stopped by and was hitting on Carole Waugh until we asked him to leave.

January 16th Daytime Scores: Annie Pick, 3380, Andree Wayman, 2160, and Pat Goddard achieved PERFECTION - O ( ZEER-OH), yep, the big zippo, nada, zilch, huevo, negatory, naught, nil, nothing, void, nichts, nix, n’er a one, none, el scoro zipareno, the H.M.S. Zipatude, vacant, vacuous, la grande vacance, blank, hollow, the resplendent nothingness, barren, sterile, eviscerated, absent, less than something (the preceding in no way reflects the attitudes, policies or opinions of the management).

Nighttime bridge is still held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. All are welcome to play.

We now have two tables and hoping with new residents moving in all the time that we can interest many more. Call Andree Wayman at 625-2225 or Jeanette Hage at 625-0655 if you are interested in starting another table or in being a sub or just to kibbitz.

Help!

The Bridge Club is taking over the whole page!

Look at my tiny picture - it may get smaller yet! Help me I’m shrinking! (my wife hears that all the time). What a thing to happen because actually this month I was going to rent out any extra space I might have - oh well, there’s always next month.

Now for the more serious stuff - last month I ran a notice asking residents to be sure to accompany their guests, especially children when they use the clubhouse. Please don’t just send them up to the clubhouse with your entry card. For the first time since we’ve opened we had some damage occur. Someone tried to force open a fake cabinet door on the left side of the large screen television stand and pulled it completely off. The right and left doors are just for decoration. The inside doors open and the doors on each end of the stand open, but not the ones on the right and left of the front. We repaired the door and hopefully no one will try to force it open again. The day that I wrote this message I found jelly beans scattered all over the floor and couch near the large screen tv. That doesn’t seem like the kind of thing a resident would leave like that so I’m assuming some kids were up here watching tv without supervision. Hence, my request for you to always accompany your guests.

We’ve done a pretty good job of keeping the clubhouse in excellent shape, and with your cooperation we’ll continue to do so. Thanks!

Stu
