Help Us Name Our NewsletterHelp us name our newsletter and
win “A Night on the Town”

We need an original clever name for our monthly newsletter. My first idea was “The Heritage Hot Flashes”, but my wife thought that was a little over the top. Maybe you can come up with something better. Whoever submits the name that we select will win gift certificates for dinner and movies, totaling $100.00 !!! Pinch me Martha, I must be dreaming! You may enter more than once. Deadline is March 21, 2002.

In the beginning … Welcome New Neighbors !
At this point virtually everyone is “new” so for our inaugural newsletter
we’ll include both new and “early pioneers.”

Charles Newman

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Charles Newman, of 2063 Hawks Landing Drive, who passed away the week of February 22nd. We will miss you Charlie.

Stu?Stu!From Stu’s Desk or somewhere near it

I’ve only had a chance to meet a handful of you, but if the folks I’ve met so far are any indicator of the caliber of our residents then I’d say we have a very special group.

Everyone has been so nice to me, making me feel at home as your new activities director/property manager.

To tell you a little bit about myself, I was born in St. Louis, but have also lived in Detroit and L.A. I am married with two sons ages 13 & 16 (that alone should gain your sympathy), and 2 dogs and 1 cat. I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts, formerly held a broker’s real estate license, and over 20 years experience in property management, activities programs, and working with active seniors.

The highlights of my former professional comedy career includes performing in over 300 nightclubs and colleges in the US and Canada (I’m internationally unknown), and opening for Pat Paulsen, Gary Shandling, Jim Carey, and others.

For the past 3 years I have participated in the Senior Olympics, as well as putting on a comedy/magic show for them with my younger son. I am here to develop an exciting, fun, diverse program with something for everyone, as well efficiently dealing with property management issues. I am thankful for what I consider a rare opportunity to utilize 100% of my experience, talents, and skills. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Because we only had 4 available chairs at the Welcome Center where we set up the coffee and donuts, we had a “Standing Room Only” crowd. Actually, no one wanted to sit anyway. Everyone had a good time, and we’ll be sure to have more of these fun opportunities to meet your neighbors and snack on goodies. The next one is scheduled for Monday, March 11th from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, no RSVP needed, just show up!

St. Louis Senior Olympics

The 23rd Annual Senior Olympics will take place at the Jewish Community Center May 25th - 29th, 2002. There are hundreds of events including golf, bowling, pool, horseshoes, bocce ball, shuffleboard, tennis, swimming and track and field events. The Senior Olympics are open to anyone, male or female, 50 years or better.

For the past 3 years I have participated in the Senior Olympics, and although I never particularly train for any event, I usually manage to get a few medals and ribbons. It’s always fun and I find it inspiring, especially when men much older than me throw a softball or football farther than me. It’s all just for fun, and you’ll meet the nicest people both competing and acting as judges.

If anyone is interested in participating or you have any questions, contact me. I have a few official entry forms which list all of the events.

The deadline for individual events is May 15th. St. Charles also hosts Senior Olympics— I wasn’t able to find anything on the Internet about them, but I know they take place within a week or two of the St. Louis version.

If you’re really into the Senior Olympics, this is a qualifying year for state or national games. The Missouri State Senior Games in Columbia, MO are June 20-23, 2002, and the National Senior Olympic Games are May 27-June 9, 2003.

Block Captains Needed.WE WANT YOU! BLOCK CAPTAINS NEEDED!
We need 1 volunteer from each street to help distribute newsletters and other important information to your neighbors. The pay is awful (none), but it’s a “glamour” position and a great way to get to know your neighbors, get some exercise, and help the community.
If you can help contact Stu

TRADING POST

This is where you can post information on anything you want to buy, sell, or trade, as well as any services you may want to offer like bookkeeping, computer instruction, etc.Trading Post

Please don't feed the geese.

A Special Request -

The geese are cute, but please don’t feed them, because like a bad in-law, once they know there’s a good food source they’ll never go away (and they leave little “gifts”) Thank you.
